jarritos

i don't remember the last time i got to go to Brooklyn. so today was really great. it still feels like new york, but it's not as hectic as manhattan by any means. which means you can run into the middle of the street and do a spontaneous photo shoot like this one. it has colorfully painted food trucks and banks with ionic columns on the facade and a different vibe overall. i saw a great show called "the suit" at the harvey theater for both my costume design class as well as my theater & society class. get it? liberal arts, overlapping? yes? no? maybe?

eskimo kiss

and finally, the cold serves a purpose. one thing i'll always miss about elementary school was getting those snow day phone calls. they would always come at some ridiculous hour of the morning and would wake up the whole house. but when the call came it was permission to get a few more hours of sleep, stay in your pajamas all day, run outside and build forts, then come inside with rosy cheeks and watch the snow cover the ground. i didn't even realize it was snowing until screaming in the dorm started. i literally grabbed erin's coat and ran outside. thanks to her again for letting me steal her coat and for braving the snow with me.

don't stop

sometimes it gets really cold outside and you have to layer up. and yes, that includes the eskimo hat that you got at Claire's six years ago. isn't it crazy how something from that long ago can stay with you for so long? whether it's a material possession or a memory. sometimes the most fleeting moments can end up being the most permanent, even if that wasn't the original intention. one night can last a lifetime if you let it. so stop and think about those kind of moments. because they really do matter, more than you may think. shout out to erin for helping me with the shoot.

varsity aces

as foreign a concept as coming back to school seemed less than a week ago, it feels like i've already been back for a month. i love my new classes so far, especially contemporary art history and costume design. they're right up my alley. art history has already blown my mind and made me question everything i thought i knew about it. sorry the photos today aren't the best, the lighting was being bizarre. and yes, i'm still rocking the socks with the cutout boots thing. and i plan to for a while. do you blame me?

engulfed

leaving Naples was like being pulled out of a fantasy. like knowing something happened, but not entirely remembering what it felt like, even if it was only a few days ago. although I'll have to post-pone summer dressing for a few more months as a means of survival, I'm so grateful I got a few days of warmth thrown into my characteristically icy January. and if facing chilly temperatures weren't daunting enough, suddenly the second semester starts on Monday. wow. anyways, shout out to the gulf of Mexico for serving as the backdrop for this photo shoot, as well as my friend Alexa for serving as the photographer through the duration of the trip.

guns n roses

Picture this. There you are in Whole Foods getting some sushi for lunch after a gorgeous morning at the beach. You're waiting for your friend, when some guy (okay some really hot guy) comes up to you and asks you about your Guns N Roses shirt. He starts talking a mile a minute about Axl Rose and asks you what your favorite song is. You draw a complete blank and can't even remember the song by them that everyone knows. Ugh.
I guess the lesson here is if you're going to wear a band shirt, make sure you have some background knowledge of the band before wearing it. No matter how cute it is. Or do what I did and laugh around what he said and then completely change the subject. You've all been advised.

we will become silhouettes

there's definitely some magical about escaping to a warm place in the icy, swirling, arctic winter. naples is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous places I have ever visited. everything is coated in light sunshine in the early morning, and the sky turns blood orange when the sun sets at night. of course, if I lived here yearly, I probably wouldn't appreciate it as much as I do, but if that's the case, then I am perfectly content upholding my visitor status. the oxymoronic features on my iPhone which tell me that not only is it January, but it is 80 degrees and sunny must love the bewildered, but blissful face I make at them.
