interior fillings

Stormy skies have inhibited posting for a few days. Sometimes I think I should have run away to California and never looked back. But too many qualms would find their way into my heart once the reality of abandoning the concrete jungle sunk in. So for now I am satisfying my sunshine craving with jotting down the festival essentials. Here's what to fill your tribal-printed backpack with. And word of advice- Free People's gear is so pretty, but festivals can be so gritty despite their picturesque appearance. Save their stuff for Central Park picnics and candlelight dinners.

the underneath

Lavender and dried flowers filled little pouches resulting in the best smell ever. A party favor from Free People's Girl's Night In event that took place tonight. I ran straight from work and was greeted by cookies, a dictionary of intimates and pre-styled outfits to check out. Took a pit stop before the party to a dead end sign to celebrate my annual hair cut. A little short for my taste, but give it a month or two. It'll grow back.

in the woodlands

Each day is better than the next in the woodlands. Being able to duck out of the sun in the hammock hangout and indulge in italian ices while listening to Kendrick Lamar is the definition of summer bliss. Already counting down the days til next year and taping my wristbands into scrapbooks.

fireflying

The weather forecast called for "abundant sunshine" this weekend at the Firefly Music Festival. Supersomethings like Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris rocked the stage and had people screaming until they lost their voices. The music, the atmosphere, the fashion. I'm in love.

the one year mark

Birthdays for me often recall a 90's esque party where you invite all of the kids in your class, eat ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and turn garbage bags into the most fashionable dress you can think of. At least, that's how it usually went down at my house. And I couldn't help but recall the content, comfort and unparalleled rewards that early birthdays brought. Now that's exactly how I feel on the one year anniversary of the existence of Keep Calm and Chiffon. The past year has been a whirlwind of new experiences and I am so grateful for every day. This blog started out as a way to pass time during the summer and has transformed into something I am so passionate about. If you're reading this right now, I have you to thank because you got me where I am now. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now go eat some cake.

still yours,
Keep Calm and Chiffon

see you monday

Online shopping is not something I often engage in. But when I stumbled across the same dress I had coveted in stores but not in my size a few weeks before, I really had no choice. I went ahead and punched the numbers into the website and within 3-5 business days I was the proud owner of a See You Monday dress. Ta-da! Summer ease delivered to your doorstep.

historic district

For me, one of the things that gives the UWS its character is the architecture. Old, romantic brownstones with staircases that ascend to beckoning wooden doors. It all seems like a place you could stroll around for hours and not get sick of. I love being in the city and exploring the different neighborhoods. Yesterday at work my boss liked my outfit and posted it on her Instagram. I love interning. It's something new every day and it's never boring.
